Bowing Deformity correction
with analysis & software simulation
using the Ilizarov fixator
37 year old lady doctor suffered from severe bowing deformity of both her lower limbs . some attempts had been made to correct it in her childhood which were inadequate. She now presented with pain which was present not only while walking but also at rest and at night.

a lateral xray showing the deformities in the sideways plane
Analysis
It was noticed that the xrays in both the frontal plane and the sidewards plane showed deformities. It meant that the true deformity lay in another plane which has to be found. This can be found using a trignometric formula or a graohic analysis method.
the true oblique plane deformities in the thigh bone showing maximum deformity.
the true oblique plane showing no deformity at all--thus proving the analysis.
Simulation
THis is a method devised at our institute in which we are using a software system created in our hospital to perform simulations before surgery to ensure that accuracy of correction is achieved

third phase showing the angular correction and how it would fit Resutls
the surgery was done on one leg at a time and the correction was done in both the femur and tibia bones.

not only was there a full correcton of the deformity but also the knee movements did not suffer in the least.

She can bend her knees completely
